ABOUT US ALFA PLUS COMPUTERS AND ENERGY LTD: AN AFFILIATE OF SUTCHMARK FOUNDATION is an information technology outfit and also non- governmental organization that promote education amongst youths. Our mission is to aid young people to discover sustainable parts through seminars, workshops, counseling and talent and talk shows. Our burden is to help youths discover themselves and invariably find directions in life. We help outstanding candidates who lack the means to secure partial of full scholarship, to help them achieve whatever they want to achieve in life. We seek to break the monotony in Nigerian education curriculum by introducing short internship programmes in the areas of information technology (IT), writing arts. Through these programmes, participants discover their areas of strength and we take it up from there by encouraging and sponsoring them if need be. We also distribute reading and writing materials in primary and post primary schools. Our major areas of interest and development are: § INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY § LEADERSHIP § BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: In a 21st century global setting, where secondary school students in Asia and America produce computer chips, over half of their contemporary in Nigeria has not used a computer. More than that number still have used the internet for the first time. Our intention is not just to introduce it as a subject in secondary schools, but to go ahead and make the facilities available to the students. The drive has given birth to several projects in time past in affiliation with Suchmark foundation in collaboration with national youth service corps (NYSC) embarked on a project tagged I faculty, the six months project was designed to empower the youths in the Niger Delta region, Delta State to be precise In not only facing the challenges of unemployment, but to be pre-equipped to embrace the challenges of this computer age. Baptist High School, where over 255 students was trained and certified in computer appreciation and desktop publishing. An e-libery of 100 student’s capacity was also built in the school. The six months programme could not be carried out in other schools in the area as designed as a result of financial constrain from the sponsors. In a similar development, ALFA PLUS in early this year in collaboration with SUTCHMARK FOUNDATIONS collaborated with an NGO communication development, initiative [CDI] in Enugu state to train youths in Oji River Local Government Area on computer appreciation, desktop publishing and use of internet. We developed a multimedia library for the youths; this has been one of our major projects, we have started getting materials, equipment and resource persons to flag off the second phase of this project by November 2016. LEADERSHIP: The problem of good and committed leadership has no doubt every meaning step taken towards the realization of nation-hood and sustainable development in Nigeria and Africa at large. The burden of statecraft has been repeatedly place in the hands of unprepared and emergency politicians. Our intent in this is to raise discipline and competent minds with adequate and contemporary knowledge of what leadership and development entails, selfless individuals whose political, social and economic decisions would be based on the rule of law, fairness and common good. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: Even with abundant raw materials, manpower and friendly environment, our industries are still under-producing most of our goods are still imported. We want to raise young business developers with practical ideas for exploration and exploitation of raw materials and adequate utilization of same for industries. We intend to involve researches and series of professionals to discover areas of attention and begin early enough to channel the attention of these young ones towards these areas. We don’t intend to increase the large volume of literature on business and administration, which are hardly useful, but to take practical steps with these young ones to correct the inconsistencies in our manufacturing culture. PROJECT NITEA: National Information Technology Empowerment Academy {NITEA} is a specialized information technology (IT) internship programme meant for post primary schools in Nigeria. Through NITEA, students will be introduced to the basic knowledge in information technology for a period of 4 – 6 weeks. During this period, candidates are expected to cover the scheme of work in the specified modules as well as pass the exams to secure a cover the scheme of work in the specified modules as well as pass the exams to secure a national certificate on it information technology. (IT) NITEA is a programme designed for all post primary schools in Nigeria. We will set up at least five pilot schools in each state where these facilities will be installed at the disposal of all other post primary schools in the state. Every academic section, the students in other schools will gather twice or trice at intervals to tap from the unlimited resources of the programme, where the team of our facilitators and professionals with tutor them. The outstanding candidates from each school will be sent to the academy where they will receive an intensive training for 4 – 6 months, they will be issued an IT certification on their area of specialization, this certificate will be recognized beyond Africa. Ultimately we want to build through the government an information technology (IT) academy (NITEA) that will be recognized beyond Africa, which will in turn create an international market for young IT professionals. This academy will not be limited to post primary schools, but at the national level, it will be open to undergraduates, graduates and intents locally and internally. E – LIBRARY PROJECT The e – literary system is an automated and digitalized school library which is an impetus for effective teaching and learning. This is to facilitate information searches and retrieval with the use of computer hardware’s and software’s necessary for this action. This no doubt improved teaching and learning in primary and post primary schools by providing necessary materials that will complement and supplement school curriculum promoting and inculcating reading ability. The e-library has three basic jobs in helping children learn § It provides varieties of books and other materials for the school’s educational program, carefully fitting them in with the needs of the children. § It helps the children develop an interest in many subjects. § It teaches how to use an e-library. ALFA PLUS – LEARNING SOLUTION ALFA PLUS E-LEARNING SOLUTION PACKAGE Concerned by the poor performance of students in recent examinations, and in view of the full transition by JAMB from Paper Pencil Test (CBT), it has becomes essential to take urgent measure to prepare candidates effectively towards this transition by getting them confident in taking Computer Based Tests, and improve success rates amongst candidates of Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) To curb the recent trend of examination failure, lack of confidence in sitting for CBT, and contribute immensely to the success rate of students, ALFA PLUS COMPUTERS AND ENERGY LTD. Hereby proposes e-Learning Solution for School, which is an interactive and extremely user-friendly application that helps student prepare adequately for UTME. It is a collection of actual past questions over the past years in various subjects which have been solved, with voiced explanations, and presented in a user-friendly manner. This solution doesn’t required the user to be extremely knowledgeable with the use of computers to make use of the software.
